Bell Bottom is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Ranjit M Tewari. The film is written by Aseem Arrora and Parveez Sheikh, with production by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Nikkhil Advani under their respective banners Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment. It stars Akshay Kumar because the lead character, with Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi in other prominent roles. Bell Bottom is inspired from real world hijacking events in India by Khalistani separatists during the 1980s, like the Indian Airlines Flight 423, 405 and 421 hijackings.

MOVIE PLOT:

The narrative of the film rotates around the capturing of Indian Airlines flight IC 691 that takes off from Delhi on August 24, 1984. This was fifth Indian Airlines plane commandeering in most recent seven years. The commandeering happened during the organization of previous Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi (Lara Dutta) 

While the Prime Minister Gandhi intends to allow the Pakistani government to haggle with the four thieves (when the plane has arrived in Lahore), under-cover RAW specialist, Anshul Malhotra (Akshay Kumar), code-named Bell Bottom, has an alternate arrangement to him. He needs to protect 210 travelers as well as capture the criminals. The remainder of story spins around this secretive mission to save travelers of IC 691 in Dubai.

PRODUCTION & RELEASE:

The film was authoritatively reported in November 2019 with delivery date of Republic Day 2021. The melodies included in the film are formed by Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi, Shantanu Dutta, Gurnazar and Maninder Buttar while verses are composed by Rashmi Virag, Tanishk Bagchi, Babbu Maan, Maninder Buttar, Seema Saini and Gurnazar.[citation needed] 

The melody Sakhiyan2.0 is a change of the 2018 punjabi tune Sakhiyan by Maninder Buttar.

RECEPTION:

Suchin Mehrotra composing for Film Companion condemned the screenplay of the film saying that "eventually, some place covered inside Bell Bottom are the structure squares of an incredible spine chiller. It's simply covered in oversimplified narrating and 'captured' by the tensions of the enormous Hindi film formula." Monika Rawal Kukreja of The Hindustan Times lauded the film for being an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

CONTROVERSY:

The film was restricted in three Gulf nations, specifically Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. The film confirmation specialists prohibited it on grounds of messing with authentic realities.
